Educators
For more than 25 years, Catharsis Productions has led the way in creating safer, more respectful communities using presentations centered on relationships, gender norms, stereotypes, and community building. Through these innovative programs, workshops, and consulting, we meet our audiences where they are, utilizing humor and candid conversation to open the dialogue on challenging oppressive attitudes, shifting behavior, and spurring action for cultural change. Our audiences include college students, military personnel, government employees, and more.
We are currently seeking Educators for multiple positions to present programming at Great Lakes Naval Station (in North Chicago) and on college campuses around the country in the fall. These programs utilize scripted material, audience discussion, and improvisation to educate about sexual violence prevention and bystander intervention. You do not need to be an actor or performer but must be comfortable presenting in front of groups in an engaging and dynamic manner. Candidates can be considered for one or both audience types.
INTERVIEW DATES: Interviews will be held in downtown Chicago on March 5 & 6
TIME COMMITMENT: All training will take place over Zoom and in-person in Chicago. Because there are different training needs for different audience types, not all new hires will train at the exact same schedule.
- Programs at Naval Staton Great Lakes occur weekly and year-round. Training will begin in April and take place in multiple-hour blocks. Exact times and dates have some flexibility, but applicants should expect the initial training process to take four to six weeks.
- Programs at college campuses occur almost exclusively during August and September. There may be some training sessions occurring sporadically during April and May, but most of the training will take place in multiple-hour blocks during June. Exact times and dates have some flexibility, but applicants should expect the total training process to take four to six weeks.
COMPENSATION:
For both audience types, the position is part-time with hourly pay. Training is paid at $21 per hour then increases to $30 per hour when delivering presentations. Candidates can be considered for one or both audience types.
- Programs at Naval Station Great Lakes occur weekly and year-round with pay of approximately $200/day. Educator assignments are pending availability and scheduling needs. This is a great option for someone who wants to stay local, doing semi-regular part-time work.
- Programs at college campuses occur almost exclusively during August and September with pay fluctuating based on assignments. Per Diem is provided for eligible travel days. This is a great option for someone who is used to working by project and wants to do all their work in one large chunk.

- Any performance or public speaking footage is also welcome, be it a monologue, a scene, simple slate, or video of you presenting
LOOKING TO HIRE SOON!
