For seventeen years Catharsis Productions has been creating and delivering unique and pretty awesome live and online sexual violence prevention trainings to college and military audiences. Our most recent adventure has taken us into Corporate Consulting. By “fighting fire with funny,” we strategically use humor (yes, even for educational purposes) and audience interaction to break down defensiveness and challenge misconceptions about sexual violence.

We are seeking a Full-Time Accountant. The successful candidate will be responsible for budget management, financial analysis, forecasting, accounts payable, accounts receivable and financial reporting. Key areas within the finance department will also be managed by the Accountant, including approving expense reports, creating timesheets, budgeting, checks and payments, and managing accounts. This position will also act as a liaison/contact between multiple vendors. This is a fantastic opportunity for a professional who is well-versed in working closely with the Executive and Finance team.

 

HERE’S THE SKINNY:

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Accountant’s responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

 

 

· Manage accounts receivable to ensure timely payments and create invoices for customers and credit card payment submissions.

· Collect checks from Educators and handles any paperwork regarding payments.

· Monitor financial details to ensure that legal requirements are met as it relates to tax filings, and GAAP for all financial dealings.

· Approves expense reports for the company.

· Partner closely with Director of Client Relationships on client financial management – including revenue forecasting, budget tracking, invoicing, and invoice collection.

· Partner with Owners, Directors, HR, and business consultants to create annual budgets and quarterly forecasts. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

· Assessment, validation, and preparation of monthly revenue, purchase order, and vendor invoice accruals.

· Communicate with car vendors and act as liaison/contact when a situation occurs. (HR can help here)

· Regular review of accrued revenue, and customers invoices to improve cash flow.

· Maintain appropriate documentation of controls and financial review for periodic internal audits and work directly with internal auditors during onsite audits.

· Maintain appropriate safety measures and controls around corporate credit cards, company IT, property and keys.
· Assist with approving expense reports, requesting departmental Budgets and working with HR in getting Payroll in QuickBooks.
· Run full-cycle accounts payable and vendor payment process – including creation of purchasing documentation, coding and allocation of vendor invoices.

· Maintain and apply current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.

· Receive, record, and authorize requests for disbursements in accordance with company policies and procedures.

· Develop internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for activities such as budget administration, cash and credit management, and accounting.
 

 

AND WHAT KINDS OF EXPERIENCE SHOULD YOU HAVE?

Education and/or Experience:

Minimum Associate Degree in Accounting. 4 Year Degree Preferred. 

 

Preferred Education and Experience

  • 5-7 years of relevant experience.  
  • Ideally a four-year degree. 
  • Experience in a mission based for-profit organization. 

 

Knowledge and Skills:

Proficient knowledge of QuickBooks, proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook), ability to work well under time constraints, confidentiality, ability to prioritize and assist multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-oriented environment, detail oriented.
