For seventeen years Catharsis Productions has been creating and delivering unique and awesome live sexual violence prevention trainings to college and military audiences. By "fighting fire with funny," we strategically use humor (yes, even for educational purposes) and audience interaction to break down defensiveness and challenge misconceptions about sexual violence.

We are currently seeking Seasonal Actors/Educators for our college orientation season. You will present programs utilizing improvisation, scripted material and audience discussion to educate college students about sexual violence prevention.

HERE’S THE SKINNY:

Reporting directly to the Manager of Educator Delivery and Development, Seasonal Actors/Educators would be expected to possess the following knowledge/skills:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to learn and excel at improvisational skills

• A high attention to detail and very organized

• A high degree of customer service

• Ability to manage and facilitate large groups

• Display high level of energy and thrive in a fast-paced environment

• Self-motivated and able to work both independently and as a member of a team

• Ability to plan and prioritize workload and meet deadlines

WHAT TYPE OF EXPERIENCE SHOULD YOU HAVE?

• Experience in a training and facilitating capacity, preferred two (2) years

• Preferred four (4) year college degree, or equivalent experience in a related function

• Demonstrated sensitivity, knowledge and understanding of the diverse academic, socio-economic, gender, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of the customers we serve; sensitivity and knowledge and understanding of groups historically oppressed and who may have experienced discrimination

• Background in sexual violence prevention or social justice is strongly preferred

• Must hold a valid State’s Driver License

• Bonus: Theater experience

Looking to hire soon! Human Resources will begin scheduling telephone screenings soon. Newly hired seasonal Actors/Educators will complete training in the Chicago office. Educators will be on the road traveling during college orientation season (August & September).
